Work

The purpose of this contest is the construction of 122 homes but the challenges posed by the site contain a fundamentally urban and neighborhood dimension. The reflections that end up generating the proposal will have to take into account all these scales at the same time (urban, neighborhood and domestic scale), obtaining a planning project where housing and public space jointly define this piece of city.

This urban piece has already gone through different plans and revisions and it is about finishing defining it by collecting all the previous reflections and adapting them to the new priorities, achieving the best conditions for housing and the neighborhood. In this sense, our proposal can be read in continuity with the latest proposals developed by the district.

The project includes different elements that are juxtaposed and must be taken into account:

  • Definition of an entrance to the city by one of its main arteries, where a possible dialogue with the Júlia Tower is proposed.

  • Privileged location in a high point of the city with visual control of a large part of the metropolitan environment, from the sea to the mountains.

  • Pre-existence of a slab of public space that hides some TMB depots.

  • Definition of a public space that includes this pre-existence, a strong unevenness, a very direct relationship with the Ronda, the incorporation of about 11,500 sqm of housing and about 4,500 sqm of equipment and the need to define a neighborhood centrality together with the other existing pieces in the immediate environment.

  • Different phases of execution for each of the parts: public space, housing, equipment and infrastructures.
