Given the high social demand for housing, we have considered it appropriate to develop a proposal based on achieving the maximum number of homes possible, without undermining the spatial quality and programmatic need of each of them. In this sense, we propose a building with the capacity to accommodate 28 families, with all the functional program homes for four people.
We propose a residential linear block with a ground floor and three upper floors with a basement floor for access and parking. The building will have two accesses: one more urban, on Marconi Street, and one that overlooks a pedestrian area, more “residential” where the arrival to the building is made from a private outdoor space. These two accesses are located on the opposite facades: one to the south and the other to the north and at different levels: one to the basement and the other to the ground floor.
The building is located on a plot with a slight slope from north to south, in a rectangular shape of 20x37m in which stands out a side strip of 6m wide where the regulations only allow the construction of the ground floor. The slope of the street and the chosen situation of the ground floor results in a basement floor considered with access to flat foot from Marconi Street. This basement is used for parking while it contains access to housing, the transformer station and the premises of facilities.
The building is aligned to road in three of its facades (south, north and east) and proposes a step backward (VOID) in the west facade in order to illuminate the central corridor of distribution that we find in all the floors, and guarantee cross ventilation in the T2 housing.
